Girl Scouts Visit - October 2009

Girl Scout Troop with Tina and Christian (and Gretchen)
In October this year we had the pleasure of a visit from the Girl Scouts. The troop from Saratoga Springs were shown how to take care of a pet, including how to brush their pet's teeth (which Gretchen helped to demonstrate). They each got a ditty bag of goodies and a folder for their pet's information. Tina and Christian then talked with the girls about basic pet care.

The Girl Scouts also had a chance to listen to Gretchen's heart using the stethoscope. The photo below shows sweet Gretchen having her heart listened to by another Girl Scout. Gretchen was very gentle and patient with the girls and she helped Tina demonstrate to the girls how to care for their pets.
Tina and Christian then took the girls with their leader and other visitors on a tour of the hospital. They were shown the surgery suite in the photo below. While there, Tina explained to the group the reasons why it is so important to spay and neuter their pets.

We all enjoyed the visit from the Girl Scout troop and hope they had a good time touring the hospital and learning about pet care. Good luck to the future pet owners (and, hopefully, some future Veterinarians too)!
